Gothic Good News

This is the end credit sequence from Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events. I was mesmerized when I saw it the first time & the music is the perfect match. It was directed by Jamie Caliri and designed/animated by Axiom. The score is by Thomas Newman.

I was inspired to post this short masterpiece after learning that another outrageously talented and macabre-inspired talent - Tim Burton - is directing two new 3D films for Disney. Frankenweenie & Alice in Wonderland!

I love Alice in Wonderland so much. Lewis Carroll's imagination was boundless. Here's an excerpt from the book, right after she finds the tiny door she can't fit through:

There seemed to be no use in waiting by the little door, so she went back to the table, half hoping she might find another key on it, or at any rate a book of rules for shutting people up like telescopes: this time she found a little bottle on it, (`which certainly was not here before,' said Alice,) and round the neck of the bottle was a paper label, with the words `DRINK ME' beautifully printed on it in large letters.

Ahh.
