Dad's Sporting Life

This is my father in 1960 with his custom Buick. He was seventeen. My father has a lust for life and strong sense of adventure. Of everything he's mastered... sailing, rowing, hunting, fishing, and training to become a pilot, he always comes back to cars. Fast ones.

A few months ago, I was shopping for a new car. Some fathers might recommend one that's safe or practical. Not mine. When I told my dad I was considering a Porsche, his eyes lit up and he smiled and laughed. He was absolutely tickled. He told me how much it suited me and looked at me like, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and go get it."

Brett of The Sporting Life profiles adventurous people who follow their passion. I get inspired by his interviews and realize it's because of my father's influence.

He just interviewed my dad! Read it here.

Thank you Brett, for the best Father's Day gift. Happy Father's day to you and all the other fathers out there.

I know the perfect event for my dad, maybe your dad too?

Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance
Free!
Sunday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
300 - 400 block of Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills

It features more than 100 exotic cars. I know my dad would love to see the 1959 Ferrari 250 GT “California” Spider.

I just read Brett's interview with your dad. He sounds incredibly cool. So do you. And so does Brett. I'm glad there are people like you all still in California. Anyway, I'm not really into cars, apart from a longstanding affinity for classic Mercedes-Benz, but I think I can understand what makes 'car people' tick. Enjoy the Porsche! Have a good weekend.

That was a wonderful interview! Your dad and my grandpa should get together for beer, chips & car talk. He is always talking about cool his old Ford truck and Nomad station wagon were.

I hope your pops has a great Father's Day!
