This Silver Lake home was featured in The LA Times.
It was built in 1925 and I love the Morrocan and Thai influences. I thought my hallway was colorful - painted in teal & light blue - but this homeowner is bold!
Wouldn't you love to attend a party there on a warm summer evening? I can smell the incense already.

Did you ever have Nintendo? Did you ever play Super Mario Brothers? I believe that's why Takashi Murakami's work brings a smile to my face. I can imagine bopping the little flowers for coins.
I'm not usually a big fan of anime.... particularly the exaggerated teenage girls. They give me the creeps.
But I like the simple animation that reminds me of playing SMB and Zelda with my little brother. Good times.
I love the Louis Vuitton commercial. It would look amazing in IMAX! But if you're paying $2 grand for a Murakami bag, wouldn't it be so much better to have a print on your wall?

Today, I had the rare opportunity to spend the morning with a couple of camels. The first was a full-grown male named Drake I believe. But the one who stole my heart was a 3 week old baby (appropriately) named Valentine.
The gals prepared shish kabobs and looked fabulous.
We love our pine backdrop. Goes great with the scenery. That's me & my brother Jerry at right.
Robert.. The girls again. We never get sick of posing.
Jaime serenading Dana to Madonna's Dress You Up, Lindsey & Dana enjoying a wicked game of Zoom!
Sir Benson and Buckley sharing corn on the cob, Jaime & Lindsey dancing, my brother acting his normal self.
Showing the locals how you do karaoke. Dana sang Saturday Night's Alright. My version of Stayin' Alive brought down the house. Robert worked Celebration.
Our best prep poses to show off the duds.
The boys & a bit of the carnage.
The guys did go skiing but didn't take photos. :)

Sending everyone off with a perfect quote from John Waters:
"Stylists have ruined everything. . . Nobody wants to be Bjork. I love Bjork. We need Bjork."
- on the awfully boring show of good taste on the red carpet at this year's Academy Awards
snatched from Breaking Curfew

My response:
So much to prepare. highlights, check... boots, check. now as for my tan, dahling i'm heartbroken. just can't seem to get enough color! don't want anyone to think i haven't indulged in a vacay in weeks. (what would the society papers say? she's losing her edge? the absolute horror.)
ciao.

One of the best parts of a road trip is the planning. If you haven't been following along, here's a quick catch up.
I'm heading to Big Bear this weekend. We're planning the prep theme & we've decided to go by waspy names. So glad you guys have given my chosen name, "Astor" the thumbs up. Hortense, love it! WDL, you already have the initials. So very prep.
Our entire group has been sharing a wicked string of emails, since you can't all come along with me, I thought I'd share a sample. toodles.

I spied the first photo in this week's Time & fell in love. Remember I'm heading to Big Bear soon? No road trip is complete without a few theme nights. I was the first to jump in with the preppy idea - of course - more reasons to go shopping!
As for names, Applevenusian - I think I was inspired by you mentioning Lily Pulitzer before. Gotta love those waspy names. A name would really finish the look. Peyton or Madison... can't decide.

These two below are getting closer. The photo on the left is what I tend to see most often, but I want a softer color for upstairs. I'm kind of feeling the baby blue, but fear it may look too childish?
