Playing Dress Up at Tiffany

There's a new Tiffany store opening at Americana At Brand. I'm working next Thursday, but if I didn't have to, I would totally go to this event just to play. You go!
Normally, I'm not a fan of these kinds of events because I'm a sucker. The last time I walked into David Yurman, I was only after the free glass of champagne held by the cute college student in a suit. I walked out with diamond earrings. How did that happen?!
Make like Audrey and don't buy anything extravagant. Try on outrageous jewelry and then get something like a cracker jack prize engraved.

Inspired Packaging

These presents remind me of candycanes. It looks great & easy to do. Just loop a couple of ribbons around the box several times and tape it to the back. I love it's just one color of paper and 2 colors of ribbon.

In case you haven't already noticed, I'm obsessed with Tiffany box blue. I still have stacks of boxes from my wedding (4 years ago). There's nothing in them. I just enjoy living with the boxes.

I bought a babydoll yesterday from Victoria's Secret that's Tiffany blue with hot pink satin ribbon. It's fierce & sweet at the same time. And for some reason feels a bit holiday inspired.

I'm seriously considering wrapping my gifts with the same color combo. Check out my my rudimentary mockup. Sorry, I don't have photoshop on my computer.

Looks kind of cool, right?
I did some research & found the wrapping paper at Sophie's Favors - $23.95 for 25 feet.
There are two ribbons I'm looking at..
Paper Mart - $6.25 for 100 yards double-faced (silky on both sides)
B.B. Crafts - $3.99 for 100 yards single faced (silky on one side)

dynamic eco-friendly dishes

Stealing a quote from Colin Cowie: I am to tabletop what Imelda Marcos was to shoes. I'm obsessed with dishes. Sarah Cihat has some of the coolest dishware because she picks them up at thrift stores, garage sales, ebay, who knows where... and then paints them with cool graphics. My favorite style is the one with birds, but she does everything from the girls you see on trucker mudflaps to spiders & skulls.

She also has a cool line of vases and bowls called Dirt. I love the chains draped round this one. So pretty. You can find her dishes at a darling store in LA... Zelen on Beverly Blvd.

I also love to go to Barneys & Tiffany to look at all the beautiful dishes. You can handle & admire them without actually having to buy them. I do the same thing with expensive jewelry & watches. It's a strange hobby, but it doesn't cost anything. I wonder if anyone else has this hobby?
