Electric Avenue

Yesterday my house had no electricity. A nasty storm knocked down power lines in our neighborhood. After making soup on my gas stove there was nothing else to do, so I napped through the outage. Quite a contrast from the sleepless nights and endless lights of Las Vegas.

The lovely view from our room.

Catching a view from a tabletop at Tryst.

Feet firmly on the ground, really wanting to jump into the waterfall. If it had been warmer...
High five!
One of my favorite indulgences. Norman Love chocolates come in flavors like peanut butter & jelly, banana nut bread, cinnamon roll, pineapple and new york cheesecake. When you close your eyes, it tastes so much like the real thing, it's unbelievable. (Plus, unlike most gourmet chocolates, these taste as good as they look.)

Remember those fuschia YSL shoes I posted just a few days ago? I spotted them paired with rubberized stretch pants everyone seems to be sporting and couldn't resist a quick snap. They are incredible in person.

Visions of Sugar Plums

I woke up this morning with candy on my mind. Will Cotton is one of my favorite artists and his works are the stuff of dreams.

Will Cotton "Candy Curls"
Will Cotton "Ribbon Candy"

Kenny Scharf "Chocolate Donut in Space"
Will Cotton "Chocolate Forest"
The most special hot chocolate I've ever tasted was at Angelina in Paris. It opened in 1903 and their hot chocolate tastes like a liquid candy bar. It's so rich the whipped cream tempers the sweetness. I could only handle a few sips, but I recall thinking it was exactly what I imagined the chocolate river would taste like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Before things get to saccharine, let's finish with Morgue Chocolates by Stephen J Shanabrook, shall we?

Easter indulgence

Happy Easter!
In the spirit of all the yummy treats that will be enjoyed this Sunday, I will share my absolute favorite chocolate company with you.
Let me preface this with the fact that I don't normally like flavored chocolate or truffles, because it's usually too rich.
I tend to prefer a simple chocolate-dipped strawberry, plain milk chocolate or a snickers.
But these Norman Love Chocolates are out of this world.
Flavors that make me swoon include peanut butter & jelly, orange, and apple.
They sound strange, but seriously, you'll thank me later.
Just try them.
