A Date With the Pink Lady

I'm going on a getaway for my birthday.

I asked Robert if we could go somewhere and open the window, see the ocean, walk to the beach and do a whole lotta nothing, without leaving the country or taking time off work. (Less stress!)
Robert polled some of our most entrusted friends and chose La Valencia, aka The “Pink Lady of La Jolla.” He knows what I like. The Spanish style hotel was built in 1926. I love a sense of history and stories behind buildings.

Groucho Marx stayed here and I don't know if these quotes originated behind the hotel's walls, but I love them just the same.

"Please accept my resignation. I don't want to belong to any club that will accept me as a member."

"Room service? Send up a larger room."

That last quote brings me to the ocean villas, which I am looking so forward to and sound absolutely divine.

At our last party, one guest kept looking around & confessed he had been in our house before. He said, "The last time I was here, there was a jacuzzi in the middle of the room. It was wild." I fell in love with my house even more at that moment.

What a pretty place! Have you ever stayed at the Madonna Inn? I think it's pink too. I've always wanted to go there.
