Invitation obsession

When planning a party, isn't the planning half of the fun?
I'm big on anticipation. I love getting the butterflies & daydreaming about getting everyone you know and love together in one room to mingle & enjoy their company.
Remember back to school time - shopping for outfits to wear, the right 3-ring binder and backpack.
In high school it was all about high school dances. I would shop for months for the perfect dress & shoes. Back then it all had to match - you know I had some shoes dyed crazy colors.
My birthday feels like such a benchmark in my life, a party is absolutely necessary. :)
These invites are from Kate Spade & Rock Scissor Paper. I'm going with the last with the starburst on it from RSP.
The gals at Rock Scissor Paper are great to work with - as in they are direct, helpful & quick, quick, quick!
Most invitations take 6-8 weeks for the proof & order. Who has time to plan that early? Not me.
I told them what I wanted, they sent my proof the next day, I made payment today, and they are mailing it out tomorrow. I can't believe it. I love it!

Audrey the painter

I didn't know Audrey Hepburn was also a painter? I was browsing Amazon because I keep looking at the book of her treasures - The Audrey Hepburn Treasures, which is a box of keepsakes, a personal glimpse into her life.
This image is in the box, which I'm sure she painted after being inspired by her work with UNICEF.
Wasn't she amazing? I have to buy it now.

Flaming Furniture

I dig this furniture because it's a bit outrageous. The artist takes wooden objects, burns them with a blowtorch.. and then seals them with epoxy. His name is Marteen Baas. Each piece is unique and I love the macabre edge. Even though I do get a bit nervous sitting in the chairs, they are sturdy!

Audrey all over again

Ok, so we know I love Audrey... Hepburn, Kawasaki... even my 9 year old kitty with the same name. I don't mean to repost about the same artist - Audrey Kawasaki - but I just love these paintings. I saw the circus painting in person & alas, someone else had already bought it, & owls are about my favorite animal. I love the spooky mood of the painting...
I love people & animals in paintings. I believe I'm inspired by the kitten purring loudly in my lap. Life can't get better than this.

Beautiful Bachelor Pad

I'm a big fan of the film The Big Lebowski. I love the story & the actors, but I'm really in love with the house you see in the photos.

It's the the awesome 60's pad where "The Dude" is drugged by John Treehorn. I wanted to live there immediately.

So I did a little digging and found the house. It's designed by John Lautner, called The Goldstein House and is naturally in Benedict Canyon.
The house's owner has a website at http://www.jamesfgoldstein.com/ if you'd like to check it out.
